Physics

To be eligible for the Master of Science program "Physics" the following qualifications are needed:

1. Bachelor degree

Proof of a Bachelor degree with above average examination results either in Physics orany comparable study course with essentially the same content at any institute of higher education in Germany or abroad - or any degree recognized as equivalent - with a standard period of study of three or more years.

2. Good proficiency of English

Proof of a satisfactory knowledge of English language, to be submitted in form of either TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language), internet based (IBT) with minimal score: 88 or IELTS test (International English Language Testing System) with minimal score: 6.5.

Or not less than 8 points awarded in English as shown on a German school-leaving certificate qualifying for university.

Applicants who are native speakers of English, or completed their Bachelor\'s studies exclusively in English (proof of the university is needed) don\'t have to submit any English test results.

Moreover, the admissions committee may decide on exemptions in justified cases in agreement with the head of the language centre.

3. Strong academic records

Transcript of records for all the courses taken during the Bachelor\'s program and any other documents providing valuable information on the applicant\'s eligibility for the program.

Proof of above average examination results can be a bachelor degree with an average grade of 2.4 or better,or evidence that you are among the top 20% of your class, or final thesis with grade 2.0 or better, or where this has not yet been established an average of 2.7 or better of all examination results obtained by the date of application (the volume thereof must be equivalent to 140 or more ECTS).

4. Sufficient knowledge of experimental and theoretical physics and of mathematics.
