Course Structure

  1. Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Practice (60 credits at Level 7)
  2. Research Studies (30 credits level 7)
  3. Major Project (60 credits level 7)
  4. Advancing Professional Decision Making (30 credits level 7)
  5. A 40-minute viva will examine the seven defined case studies/reports from the practice component which you submit (equivalent to 2,000 words).
  6. A portfolio containing evidence of 30 relevant case studies including the 14 compulsory procedures. This must also contain a log book of the cases you have undertaken (equivalent to 8,000 words).
  7. A written assignment: Literature review and research proposal (8,000 words).
  8. An essay submitted at week six (3,000 words).
  9. A critical appraisal submitted at week 15 (5,000 words).
  10. A report or research/work-based project up to 15,000 words to include critical discussion of application to practice and critical reflection.

Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

In order to undertake this module candidates must be working in the field of aesthetic and plastic surgery and be fully accredited and registered with the GMC with a Plastic Surgery qualification or equivalent.

Candidates must hold Practising Privileges at a private hospital facility to undertake the PG Cert.

Candidates must hold their own indemnity insurance and are advised to be a member of either UKAAPS or British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
