Course Structure

  1. a state-of-art custom-built servo-driven platform for studying postural responses to unexpected perturbations to balance,
  2. a custom-built multi-target array for studying arm reaching movements,
  3. a 6-camera optoelectronic movement measuring system (Vicon) for recording bilateral whole body kinematics,
  4. 16 channels of electromyography (EMG) for measuring the electrical activity of the muscles,
  5. 2 Bertec multi-axis force platforms,
  6. and a treadmill for studying locomotion.

Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA: 3.0 overall, or atleast 3.2/4.0 over the last two years of study).
  • An undergraduate degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or its equivalent is a prerequisite for graduate study in Kinesiology and Physical Education.
  • Students who seek admission to the Master\'s program without a degree in Physical Education may be required to complete up to 30 credits of undergraduate work to qualify.
  • The specific courses and the number of credits will be determined by the student\'s advisor in consultation with the Graduate Program Director in light of the student\'s background and career goals.
  • The final decision regarding extra course requirements remains with the academic advisor.
  • Applicants may be required to complete work beyond the specific MA requirements (usually undergraduate courses), if the quality of a previous degree program cannot be evaluated or if crucial courses are missing. This must be specified to the student under conditions of acceptance.
  • Applicants are advised to contact a potential supervisor in advance of the application deadline.
