The Postgraduate Certificate course in the Teaching of Ethics in Schools provides an overview of different ethical theories and the developmental stages of moral development, as well as the main theories of curriculum development. Career Opportunities
This postgraduate course is a requirement if you are interested in teaching Ethics in schools. The DQSE and the Ministry of Education are currently introducing a programme of Ethics education for students who are currently opting out of Religious Education will be gradually rolled out in primary and secondary schools.

Year 1 Semester 1 Compulsory Units (All students must register for this/these unit/s) EDE5010 The Ethics and Politics of the Ethics Class 5 ECTS EDE5023 Teaching Ethics in Schools: Core Ethical Theories and their Application 5 ECTS EDE5024 Philosophy for Children and Ethical Living: Comprehensive Tools for Teaching and Learning Ethics in Schools 5 ECTS Semester 2 Compulsory Units (All students must register for this/these unit/s) EDE5008 Moral Development, Values and Social Understanding in Young Children and Adolescents 5 ECTS EDE5025 Navigating Ethical Dilemmas: Teaching Controversial Issues in the Ethics Classroom 5 ECTS EDE5026 Assessing the Ethics Curriculum within the Learning Outcomes Framework 5 ECTS Requirement for award of Postgraduate Certificate in the Teaching of Ethics in Schools: 30 ECTS credits This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of Postgraduate Certificate in the Teaching of Ethics in Schools, under the auspices of the Faculty of Education.

Applicants must be in possession of: Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications the Master in Teaching and Learning or the degree of Bachelor of Education (Honours) or a first cycle degree together with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education or a first cycle and/or second cycle degree or higher and a permanent teacher's warrant or e) any other recognised teaching qualification and a permanent teacher's warrant.
