Our Computer Science Pre-masters pathway offers two Streams. The Conversion Course has been designed as an entry point to Computer Science for students with no academic background in Computer Science, while the Specialist stream is designed for students with academic background in Computer Science. Conversion - Course structure, and the number of modules taken, will vary dependant on the length of the Pre-Masters Program. Pre-Masters Interactive Learning Skills and Communication This module shall help students develop a range of academic and communicative skills necessary for successful study at postgraduate level. Students will develop transferable communicative skills (written and oral), independent learning and responsibility for personal, academic and professional development are all focused on as well as the completion of the Swansea University Career Development Course. Assessment: Presentation, critical reading, group work Find out more here Academic English Skills 1 Focusing on developing students’ ability in the academic writing, reading, listening and language skills required for study on academic programmes at Masters level this module will also develop students’ research and critical thinking skills, as well as their spoken English language ability, necessary for academic purposes. In doing so, this module aims to contribute to raising student awareness of necessary English language skills needed in an academic context in order to be able to cope with the demands of a postgraduate programme. It will specifically focus on developing students’ ability in Summary, Evaluation, and Argumentative academic writing; as well as reading, listening, and language skills required for study on academic programmes at Masters level. It will also develop students’ research and critical thinking skills, in addition to their spoken English language ability. The module provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of critical thinking strategies and to understand the essential role these strategies play in the research process. It also covers the strategic considerations necessary for successful implementation and operation. The module aims to prepare students for a range of marketing and strategy modules in future years of study. A consideration of the importance of the organisational context is given. The module also discusses key concepts, theories and research and the foundations of the study or organisational behaviour and human resource management in such a way as to introduce students to contemporary issues encountered by human resource and operations managers.
