Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Strong candidates will have a combination of at least one year of professional work experience, a demonstrated commitment to public service, a bachelor\'s degree from a regionally accredited institution, and a 3.0 GPA. Applicants without a 3.0 GPA may be admitted on a probationary basis.
There are no entrance exams required for application to the program unless your bachelor\'s degree was from a non-traditional institution (letter grades not issued), then you must submit GRE scores. We believe factors such as professional goals and motivation are better predictors of success in the program than scores from standardized exams.
However, evidence of ability to read and speak English at the graduate level may be requested of applicants for whom English is not a primary language. The TOEFL is the customary instrument used in this assessment. Applicants should have familiarity with basic statistics, spreadsheet, and database programs.

- A completed application form and application fee of $55 (refundable for SU alumni)
- Two completed MPA Recommedation Form - typeable from current or former supervisors
- A current resume
- A letter of intent (one to two pages) summarizing your interest in the MPA program and discussing ways in which the MPA will assist you in reaching your career and educational goals
