Academic Requirements

In addition to the other supporting credentials, all applicants must complete and submit an application form.

The preferred method is to submit your application electronically. Applicants should have the following information close at hand when completing the application:

  • Names and email addresses of recommenders.
  • Names of undergraduate and graduate institutions and dates of attendance.
  • GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS scores, percentiles and dates taken (if applicable).
  • Personal statement and a curriculum vitae or resum\xc3\xa9 saved on the computer on which applicant is working.
  • Application Fee

The Application Fee is US $55.00. This fee is waived for current or returned Peace Corps volunteers or AmeriCorps, City Year, and other service organization volunteers.

  • Statement of Purpose

The statement of purpose is a pivotal piece of the entire application package and should discuss the reasons for applying to the MPP degree program. The admissions committee is looking for applicants with an understanding of one or more areas of policy as measured by any or all of the following indicators: awareness, voluntary or educational work experience, and/or actual employment in a social policy setting. Please be sure to include any relevant experience \xc2\x96 educational, volunteer or professional - and provide concrete examples.

  • Transcripts

Applicants must submit official transcripts from all undergraduate, graduate, continuing education, and study abroad courses that they have taken.

  • Standardized Test Scores

Applicants to the MPP and the PhD in Social Policy programs must submit test results of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

Test scores will be sent directly by ETS, Educational Testing Service. The GRE code is 3097.

The various admissions committees do not set specific standards for GRE test results. We cannot accept any test score older than five years.

English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
