Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Consideration is given to the applicants previous academic and professional experience. There should be in each applicants background a pattern of experience that supports his or her expressed desire to pursue advanced graduate studies in rehabilitation counseling. Appropriate evidence of such experience should be reflected in the applicants letters of recommendation.
The following are factors significant in determining ultimate acceptance as a candidate:
- A bachelors degree in an appropriate field from an accredited institution, with a grade point average of 3.00 (B) or better in the last two years of undergraduate study.
- A written statement of academic goals and career objectives that is 1-2 pages single-spaced, typed in length, that describes the applicants professional goals as they relate to the MA program in Rehabilitation Counseling.
- Three letters of recommendation, with at least two from professors and/or employers.
- Scores from the Graduate Record Examination General Test if the applicants grade point average is below 3.00.
Applicants with grade-point averages of less than 3.00 (B) in their last two years of undergraduate study must also submit scores from the Graduate Record Examination General Test (subject test scores not required).
