Academic Requirements
Candidates seeking admission to the MSc program must have an honours BSc degree or equivalent in physics. The general admission requirements and the application procedure are governed by the regulations of the School of Graduate Studies of Concordia University and can be consulted here.
The admission procedure is a two-step process. First, the Graduate Program Committee of the department reviews the applications in terms of academic admissibility and selects the most suitable candidates for distribution among potential research supervisors. Upon admission the research supervisor(s) and the department accept the responsibility for ensuring and arranging the financial support for the student for at least two years contingent upon satisfactory performance. Upon arrival, a Supervisory Committee is appointed for each student. This committee consists of two faculty members in the department and the research supervisor(s). The committee is responsible for monitoring the progress of the academic program of the student and reports to the Graduate Program Committee.
The complete application must contain a curriculum vitae, all university transcripts, certified copies of obtained university degrees, and a statement of purpose, where the applicant highlights his/her motivation, identifies the desired research field he/she wishes to work in the department, and lists the arguments why he/she should be considered as a competitive candidate.
Applicants should also arrange for three letters of reference with academic assessment forms to be completed by previous professors or other professional mentors of the candidate.
