  2. evaluate commonly used methodological and statistical approaches; and
  3. apply methodological and statistical approaches in cooperation with behavioural, biomedical, and social science researchers.

Academic Requirements

The Board of Research Master\'s Programmes selects a maximum number of 20 suitable applicants per year. When applying for the research Master\xc2\x92s programme Methodology and Statistics for the Behavioural, Biomedical and Social Sciences you are subject to the following entrance requirements.

Preliminary Training

This programme is open for students with a background in Biomedical Science, Social and Behavioural Sciences (including Political Science), Econometrics and /or (Applied) Mathematics. We expect candidates to have at least 20 EC worth of:

  • Undergraduate training in methods and statistics, including topics such as univariate descriptive statistics, correlation, univariate regression, and one-way analysis of variance,

  • Training in one or more topics in multivariate statistics, that is, factor analysis, multiple regression, and/or analysis of variance,

  • Hands on experience with SPSS or another statistical software package for data analysis.

Students with a background in Econometrics and/or (Applied) Mathematics may be able to compensate for this requirement with math experience in their preliminary training.

Grade Point Average

Students with a GPA of 3.4 (or the Dutch equivalent of 7.5) or higher are eligable. Students with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.4 (Dutch equivalent: 7 or better) may be eligible and can compensate by other capacities they possess, according to the programme\xc2\x92s admissions committee.

All courses are taught in English; therefore a good knowledge of English is required.
