Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
The following standards and requirements must be met for admission to the MSW program:
- A bachelor\'s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- An Acceptable GPA
- For regular admission - A GPA of at least 3.0 overall (based on a 4.0 scale) or a 3.0 average for the last 60 semester hours of coursework toward a completed degree (based on a 4.0 scale).
- For conditional admission* - A GPA of at least 2.5 overall (based on a 4.0 system), and a score at the 50th percentile or higher on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), or at least 300 or above for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
- For advanced-standing admission: Students who hold the bachelor of social work degree from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education may apply to the Advanced-Standing MSW program. Advanced-standing students enroll in MSW study for one full summer or spring bridge session and one full academic year (fall and spring). In addition to the satisfaction of all admission requirements of the School, admission with the advanced standing also requires a \'B\' average or better in all undergraduate social work courses, with no more than one \'C\' in upper division/professional social work courses and grades of \'B\' or better in field education courses.
- Completion of an application. The School of Social Work provides instructions and a checklist for completing an application.
