Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
Seattle University is on the quarter system. The MSAL Program uses a modified cohort system and only accepts 30 students each year. Admission is competitive and students are only admitted in Summer Intersession (mid-August).
We start reviewing applications on February 15th for the Summer Intersession start date.
Applications are accepted until mid-July, but if all 30 slots in the cohort are already filled, then those students who could be admitted, will be waitlisted. Students will be moved off the wait list and admitted if a slot opens up.
The following information is required for application:
- Completed Application for Graduate Admission form and a non-refundable $55 application fee (waived for Seattle University alumni).
- Official transcripts reflecting a four-year bachelor\'s degree (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution as well as any post-baccalaureate course work
- GRE exam scores (recent GMAT scores may be substituted, but contact MSAL coordinator for more information)
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals who have evaluated applicant\'s academic work or supervised practical experience and are able to assess potential for graduate study. These letters should address the applicant\'s potential for academic success at the graduate level, specifically noting the fit of the applicant to the mission and goals of Seattle University and the MSAL program.
- A 400-word essay describing how the MSAL program (specifically mission, goals, learning outcomes, and classes) will help the applicant achieve personal and professional goals.

- If English is not the applicant\'s native language, official English proficiency scores meeting the university\'s entrance requirements must be submitted.
English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
