Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Admission to the program is competitive and has controlled enrollment. Applicants meeting the priority enrollment deadline will be given preference for available seats in the program. Remaining applicants meeting the final admission deadline will be awarded admission based on availability of seats. In addition to these minimums, our competitive applicants have a health related undergraduate degree, usually have their CSCS or are taking the exam prior to starting the program, have good references from strength and conditioning coaches, completed hands on experiences in strength and conditioning or personal training, and good academic references that can speak to their potential to be successful in a graduate program.
Program Prerequisites:
- Four year U.S. Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university or its international equivalent
- Undergraduate Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
- Undergraduate Major GPA of 3.0 or above
- Apply online and supply the following documentation
- Signed in-state tuition form
- 3 recommendation forms (have names can emails of three references prior to starting the application process.)
- Selective service form (if applicable)
- Submit one official transcript from degree-granting institution. Transcript must include at least courses enrolled in during the final semester prior to graduation. Additional transcripts may be required to verify prerequisites or major coursework.
- Application fee of $60.00. International application fee $100.00.
Completion of GRE with a recommended minimum score of 900 combined on math and verbal; analytical writing recommended minimum score of 4. Scores must be submitted to UCCS.
- Completion of at least 6 credits of Human Anatomy and Physiology with laboratory (does not include exercise physiology).
- Completion of Nutrition I (3 credit) or comparable course (UCCS course HSCI 2070)
- Completion of undergraduate Kinesiology course (3 credit)
- Completion of undergraduate Exercise Physiology course plus lab (3 credit)
- Completion of undergraduate Principles of Strength and Conditioning or comparable course (UCCS course HSCI 4030 or completion of CSCS
International Applicants
In addition to the admissions requirements above, international applicants:
- Must take both the TOEFL and the GRE if English is not the primary language. (TOEFL recommended score is 89);
- May be required to participate in a Skype interview as part of the interview process to assist with English proficiency evaluation; and
- May be required to pay for the verification of accreditation of their university transcripts.
