Program Overview
The bachelor's degree program in Sports Science at KIT will immerse you in the exciting world of sport. The program covers a wide range of topics, from psychology and sociology to medicine and sports management. You will not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also develop practical skills to improve the performance of athletes and promote a healthy, active lifestyle. A central component of the degree program is the use of modern technologies and methods for data collection and analysis. These skills are crucial for making informed decisions and optimizing training programs. In addition, there is a strong focus on the social aspects of sport, allowing you to understand the importance of sport in the wider social context.
During your studies, you have various subjects, which consist of one or more modules. A module deals with a specific topic and consists of one or more courses. In the module handbook for your degree program, you will find a description of the modules and their subject assignment as well as a study plan. This gives you an orientation as to which courses you should attend in which semester in order to complete your studies within the standard period of study. It takes into account a balanced distribution of courses over the individual semesters. It also ensures that you are first taught the important basics before moving on to more advanced topics. During your studies, you will take the core subject "Sports Science" and also choose one of the two compulsory electives: "Sport and Health Management" or "Sport and Health Psychology". The program content includes:
Practical experience is an important part of the program. You will complete an orientation internship of at least 3 weeks and an in-depth internship of at least 6 weeks. You have the freedom to choose your internship according to your interests, as long as it fits in with the content of your studies or possible future fields of work. These internships offer you insights into professional fields of activity, help you to clarify professional tasks and goals, combine theory and practice, promote your own initiative and open up career opportunities for you. You will also complete an internal project internship of 60 hours as part of the compulsory elective subject Sports and Health Management.

Career Opportunities
After completing a bachelor's degree, there are various options depending on your personal interests and goals. For example, you can opt for a professional career and start your professional career in sports therapy facilities, in occupational health promotion, at fitness and performance centers, health insurance companies, clubs, associations, local authorities, as well as in sports tourism (fitness, wellness, rehabilitation) or sports management. It can be very helpful to complete a number of internships during your studies in order to establish connections with potential employers.
However, you could also decide - like many of those who have completed a bachelor's degree - to choose a consecutive master's degree program in order to deepen your skills and knowledge and thus qualify for management positions. In a master's degree program, the focus is on research, so you learn to carry out and evaluate your own empirical projects. In addition to your profile subject (movement and technology, movement and health or movement and sport in childhood and adolescence), you can choose from a variety of different specializations.
For students with a good master's degree and academic ambitions, it could also be interesting to pursue a doctorate and an academic career at a university or research institution.

• Social Science: this subject focuses on topics such as sports pedagogy, sports sociology and sports psychology in order to understand the social aspects of sport.
• Natural Science, Sports medicine, and Research Methods: you'll gain the scientific foundations for understanding the human body in a sporting context here. This includes sports motor skills, biomechanics, training science, anatomy, physiology and sports nutrition.
• Advanced Sport and Exercise Science: in this area, you will deepen your knowledge in specific areas of sports science, either in a social science or natural science context.
• Sports: Theory and Practice: here you will familiarize yourself with the theoretical and practical aspects of various sports. These include basic courses in the theory and practice of sport as well as specific courses on sports of your choice, the basics of individual and team sports and in-depth courses in individual or team sports.
• Compulsory Elective Subject Sports and Health Management: this subject deals with content from various fields of sports science such as sports marketing, sports management, sports therapy, physiological performance diagnostics and occupational health management.
• Compulsory Elective Subject Sport and Health Psychology: the focus here is on (sport) psychology and research methods.
Admission Requirements
For the bachelor's degree program in Sports Science, you need sufficient knowledge of the German language, which corresponds to at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Important: you must provide proof of the required language skills regardless of your citizenship and by the end of the enrollment period at the latest, but preferably at the time of application.
