Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

A minimum of a second class Honours degree (2.1 preferred) or equivalent in a relevant subject.

Applicants without these formal qualifications but with significant appropriate/relevant work/life experience are encouraged to apply.

What you need to include in your application

  • A research proposal (for research programmes only)
  • In addition EU/international students must submit:
  • A translated version of your transcript (if necessary)
  • Evidence of English language proficiency (if relevant)

And international students who require a visa to enter the UK must also provide:

  • A copy of the personal details page of your valid passport
  • A copy of your current Tier 4 visa, if you are currently studying in the UK
English language requirements

If English is not your first language you must have one of the following qualifications as evidence of your English language skills:

  • IELTS: 6.5 with 6.0 minimum in each skill
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): Grade C
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): Grade B
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic): 60 with 56 in each component
  • IBT TOEFL: 90 with no subtest less than 20
If you don\xc2\x92t meet the required score you may be able to register for one of our pre-sessional English courses. To register you must hold a conditional offer for your course and have an IELTS score 0.5 or 1.0 below the required standard.
