Program Curriculum

Course Structure

  1. For the 60-hour M.F.A. degree program, have been awarded a B.F.A. degree or equivalent with:
  2. A minimum of 12 semester hours (18 semester hours for two- or three-dimensional option) of work in their intended major studio area of concentration.
  3. Nine semester hours (15 semester hours for two- or three-dimensional option) in their intended additional studio area.
  4. 12 semester hours of art history.
  5. For the 30-hour thesis program, have been awarded a baccalaureate degree with a major in art equivalent to that required in the undergraduate program at WTAMU.
  6. For the 36-hour non-thesis program, have been awarded a baccalaureate degree with a major in art equivalent to that required in the WTAMU undergraduate program.
  7. Students must have completed at least nine semester hours in their intended major studio area of concentration and six semester hours in their intended additional studio area.

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
