Academic Requirements
- First: Complete the Online Application (https://www.applyweb.com/apply/uomont/menu.html). As part of this process, applicants must do the following:
- Self-report GRE scores;
- Self-report all colleges and universities attended (including GPA);
- 3 Letters of recommendation;
- Upload a short (100-300 word) essay of personal goals for graduate study;
- Upload an expository writing sample (a critical essay or research paper);
- If you are interested in a teaching assistantship fill out the TA application and upload it. The application must be completed by January 6th in this case. If the Teaching Assistantships have already been awarded your application will be put into the next pool of TA applicants;
- Pay the application fee.
- Second: Request official scores and transcripts:
- Request that your official GRE scores are sent to The University of Montana using school code 4489 or
- Request that official transcripts be sent to the English Department from all colleges and universities you have attended (Unofficial transcipts will be accepted from The University of Montana). Transcripts may also be transmitted electronically through the National Student Clearinghouse.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6 or equivalent.
