Program Overview

The master's degree program in Technology and Management in Construction offers you an in-depth, practice- and research-oriented education for the typical areas of responsibility in the construction, operation and demolition of buildings. The standard period of study is 4 semesters and you will earn 120 ECTS credits. The focus is on technical specialization in the areas of construction and construction management, process development and process optimization, digitalization and environmental protection in construction operations - along the entire life cycle of buildings of all kinds. There are five study profiles to choose from, which you can use to sharpen your professional profile. The wide range of modules allows you to design your studies flexibly and individually. The five study profiles on offer represent the different characteristics of the job profile. You can choose from: You choose one of these profiles for your Profile Studies. Each profile contains a combination of four compulsory modules (24 CP) and seven compulsory elective modules (42 CP). The choice of study profile is made under the guidance of a mentor during the first semester.

Career Opportunities

Depending on your career goals and personal interests, a master's degree will qualify you for management positions at a construction company, engineering office or public building authority in construction management, construction planning or construction engineering. You will be able to initiate construction projects of all kinds or lead them through execution, operation and dismantling and analyze the processes required and improve them with modern (including digital) tools. In general, civil engineers with a master's degree have excellent career prospects and many fields of activity; they can be found in managerial positions in the following sectors: structural and civil engineering, in engineering offices, public administration, consulting firms, railroads, postal services, insurance companies, the energy industry, software companies and several others. In this profession, you mainly design, plan, calculate, build and manage residential, commercial, administrative and industrial buildings, transportation routes (roads, bridges, tunnels, airports, hydraulic structures (locks, dams, reservoirs, etc.), power plants, environmental protection facilities (irrigation and drainage systems, sewage treatment plants, waste incineration plants), civil protection structures and much more. If you have scientific ambitions and a good master's degree, then it could also be interesting to pursue a doctorate and a subsequent career at a university or research institution.

Admission Requirements

The requirements for admission to the master's degree program in Technology and Management in Construction are based on the current admission regulations: • bachelor's degreea bachelor's degree (or at least an equivalent degree) in an engineering degree course, such as civil engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, architecture, facility and real estate management (or a degree program with essentially the same content) at a university, university of applied sciences, university of cooperative education or at a foreign university. The program must have been completed within a standard period of study of at least three years and with a minimum number of 180 ECTS credits. • minimum knowledge and minimum achievements in the following areasadvanced mathematics to the extent of at least 15 CPengineering fundamentals such as mechanics, statics, computer science, building materials and construction or materials science amounting to at least 15 CPengineering, natural, social or environmental sciences amounting to at least 15 CP If you lack minimum knowledge or minimum achievements, you can still be admitted to the master's degree program - but on the condition that you successfully make up the missing achievements by the end of the first semester. You must provide proof of this by the time you re-register for the 3rd semester at the latest.
