Program Overview
The Master's Programme in Toxicology focuses on interactions between chemicals and human health. The programme is interdisciplinary and integrates the latest developments in research, methods, and regulations with aspects of sustainable development. It will prepare you for further doctoral studies or a career in risk or safety assessment of drugs and chemicals in the public or private sectors.

The programme gives you a solid foundation for a career in toxicology and life science, either as a PhD student or as a risk or safety assessor in the public or private sector.
Previous students of the programme are employed in:
- Academia: as doctoral students or researchers at various universities worldwide.
- Governmental agencies: Swedish, European, and other agencies for chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, etc.
- Industry: pharmaceutical and chemical industry.
- Consultancies: safety assessment and sustainability support to small and medium-sized companies, e.g. in the fields of cosmetics and medical devices.
Program Curriculum
Elective courses
The students can choose one or more elective courses (at the basic or advanced level, relevant to toxicology) or a project in toxicology to cover 15 credits together with a degree project of 30 credits instead of a longer degree project of 45 credits.

The grades used are Fail, Pass or Pass with Distinction. Alternative grading scales may apply to a few courses within the programme. The grading scale is detailed in the course syllabus.

A Bachelor's degree or a professional degree equivalent to a Swedish Bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits in biomedicine, biology, cellular and molecular biology, pharmaceutics, chemistry, medicine, nutrition, biotechnology, or the equivalent. And proficiency in English equivalent to English B/English 6.
