Program Curriculum
Course Structure
- Product Design: Methods for generating ideas and front-end product development. Market research and technology evaluation. Students will present ideas for new products and establish product feasibility.
- Product Development: Taking the concept from Product Design and developing it up to manufacturing. Mechanical design, materials selection, cost modeling and environmental impact are considered. A physical working prototype is required, showing the majority of features of the product.
- Manufacturing Management: Design, planning and improvement of manufacturing based organizations, including their extended supply chain. Understanding of principles and concepts of Lean Manufacturing and Supply Chain management, and acquisition of competences and skills in the tools and techniques that support the design and the continuous improvement of lean and agile manufacturing systems.
- Engineering Systems: Understanding of product design and development and integration between technology, management and society. It provides ways of thinking about products and product development in a broader and deeper context, appreciating the importance of multiple perspectives in understanding systems.
- Advanced Seminars: Consist of a series of seminars on cutting edge and advanced non-conventional manufacturing technologies, via class talks, workshops and visits to fabrication facilities. Speakers will be invited from academia and industry. Topics will vary according to students\x92 curriculum needs for Product Design and Product Development courses.
- Engineering Management: Modeling of decision problems, problem structuring methods, financial aspects of decision making and cost modeling. Multi-attribute utility analysis. Collaborative project management.
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship: The multiple stages of technological innovation, considered through the multiple lenses that include natural sciences, engineering, management sciences and business development. Identifying the best path for commercializing a breakthrough technology in an iterative process requiring a go-to-market strategy.
- Innovation Teams: Teams of PhD students, researchers and business catalysts work with existing scientific and technological breakthroughs emerging from Portuguese research labs and develop a go-to-market strategy.
- Leadership: aims to unlock the students\x92 potential on applying leadership by learning from the past leaders and experimenting leadership in several proposed environments/games

Candidates to the Technology Management & Enterprise Executive Masters must hold a Bologna 2nd cycle degree, a master\'s degree or a five-year degree (Licenciatura) with professional experience.
