Research Proposal

All applicants must provide an additional statement of planned research. This should provide an indication of chronological period and intended area of research within the scope of the MPhil and be between 600 and 1,000 words in length. Applicants are asked to head this document \xc2\x91Statement of Intended Research\xc2\x92, and should also offer a simple and descriptive title for the proposed research. The statement should explain the rationale behind the research, provide a brief historiographic context and an indication of the sources likely to be used. Applicants can also nominate a preferred supervisor, and are encouraged to contact members of the Faculty in advance of the application to discuss their projects, although this does not guarantee acceptance on to the course, nor that the student will necessarily be allocated to that supervisor if admitted.

Please provide a sample of written work, in English. This is usually a thesis or one or two long essays.

Personal Reference This is only required if you are applying for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship.
