About This Scholarship
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation awards the MacArthur Fellowship (commonly called the Genius Grant) annually to approximately 20-30 individuals who have shown exceptional creativity in their work and the prospect of important future advances. Each fellowship provides $800,000 paid over five years with no conditions on how the money is spent. Fellows come from diverse fields including science, arts, technology, social activism, journalism, and education. The no-strings-attached nature of the award provides unique freedom for creative risk-taking.
