About This Scholarship

The National Research Foundation of South Africa funds research in science, engineering, technology, and the humanities through multiple scholarship and fellowship programmes. The NRF-DSI Scarce Skills Doctoral Scholarship supports PhD students in identified scarce skills areas including engineering, biotechnology, and ICT. Postdoctoral fellowships are also administered through NRF, and the Innovation Doctoral Scholarship supports PhD students with potential to generate commercialisable research. International students studying in South Africa are eligible for some NRF scholarships.
