The International Documentary Association administers the prestigious Pare Lorentz Award, given annually to a documentary that reflects the tradition of filmmaker Pare Lorentz's work combining social responsibility with cinematic excellence. The IDA also administers a range of student documentary fellowship and scholarship awards supporting emerging documentary filmmakers in the United States and internationally. The IDA Documentary Film Competition provides cash prizes and industry recognition for the best feature, short, and student documentaries of the year. IDA membership scholarships are available for students at accredited film programmes.
