AWARD (African Women in Agricultural Research and Development) is a competitive professional development programme that increases the capacities of African women scientists to conduct high-quality research in agricultural fields of strategic importance to sub-Saharan Africa. AWARD fellows receive two-year fellowships including mentoring, scientific writing training, leadership development, and seed grants for research. The programme has supported over 1,000 women agricultural scientists from 26 African countries since its founding in 2008, significantly strengthening women's representation in African agricultural research.
