The GEF Small Grants Programme, implemented by UNDP, provides grants of up to $50,000 to civil society and community-based organisations in developing countries for projects protecting global ecosystems while building sustainable livelihoods. While primarily a project grant rather than an individual scholarship, the programme funds environmental education, conservation, and research activities that enable community members to access learning and development opportunities. The programme operates in over 125 countries and has provided over 24,000 grants since 1992.
