Breakthrough Energy, the coalition founded by Bill Gates, supports early-stage clean energy companies and the scientists behind them. The Breakthrough Energy Fellows Programme provides funding and support for scientists who have a breakthrough idea for a technology that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions at massive scale. Fellows receive $1 million or more over 5 years to develop their technology from laboratory to pilot stage. The programme focuses on technologies in electricity, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, and buildings. Fellows gain access to Breakthrough Energy's network of investors and policymakers.
