The Pew Charitable Trusts administers the Pew Marine Conservation Fellowship, recognising outstanding individuals working on marine conservation and ocean policy. Fellows receive two years of full financial support ($150,000 total) to pursue self-directed projects addressing critical ocean conservation challenges. Past fellows have worked on overfishing, plastic pollution, marine protected areas, and deep-sea mining regulation. The programme has supported over 140 fellows from 28 countries since 1990. Selection is by nomination from a global network of marine conservation experts.
