University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) is a unique public university in Scotland, UK, officially established in 2011 and distinguished as the only university serving the Highlands, Islands, Moray and Perthshire regions through a collaborative network of around 48 campuses, research institutes and specialist centres spread across remote and rural communities. It enrols a large student population of over ~36,000 learners in both higher education and further education programmes, offering more than 350 courses — from vocational and undergraduate degrees to postgraduate research — with flexible in-person and online study options that reflect the region’s culture, environment and economy. UHI’s academic structure spans disciplines such as arts, humanities, business, science, health, engineering and sustainable development, emphasising community-responsive teaching, research and international engagement across one of Europe’s most geographically distinctive university networks.
