TheUniversity of Tehran(UT) orTehran University(Persian:دانشگاه تهران,Dâneshgâh-e Tehrân) is a publiccollegiate universityinIran, and the oldest and most prominent Iranian university located inTehran. Based on its historical, socio-cultural, and political pedigree, as well as its research and teaching profile, UT has been nicknamed "Mother University" (دانشگاه مادر,Dâneshgâh-e mâdar). It is also the premier knowledge producing institute among allOICcountries.The university offers more than 111bachelor's degreeprograms, 177master's degreeprograms, and 156PhD. programs.Many of the departments were absorbed into the University of Tehran from theDar al-Fununestablished in 1851 and theTehran School of Political Sciencesestablished in 1899.
