  1. Plan I. This plan requires a thesis and 30 units of graduate and upper division courses (100\nand 200 series). A minimum of 6 units of research supervised by major\nprofessor and a maximum of 12 units of 299 research units count toward these 30 required\nunits. At least 6 of the 30 units must be graded graduate level courses (A, B, C).
  2. Plan II. This plan requires 36 units of graduate and upper division courses. 27 of the 36 required units are to be graded units (A, B, C) and 18 of these 27 will\nbe graded graduate level units (200 and above). A minimum of six research units (ABG\n299 and maximum of 7 units) are required. A comprehensive final examination in the\nmajor subject is required of each candidate. No thesis is required
