Career opportunities The Bachelor en Formation Pédagogique prepares for a teaching career in cycle 2 to 4 in Luxembourg’s primary schools and preparatory classes of general secondary education. Students can also continue their studies at the University of Luxembourg with a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Educational Sciences and Psychology. Objectives The Bachelor en Formation Pédagogique aims to educate reflective practitioners Students learn to foster knowledge, skills, and attitude development in the classroom by taking into account children’s individual and cultural resources. Students are encouraged to develop their own critical thinking and teaching style based on the theoretical foundations acquired in class and to create their own learning path through a variety of individual and group projects in the school and out-of-school context. Learning outcomes The competences that students develop during their studies are set out in the teacher profession’s vision statement. The vision statement is based on the expectations of the Ministère de l’Education Nationale et de la Jeunesse and international professional standards and serves as a reference framework for the internal organisation of the study programme. Programme The Bachelor en Formation Pédagogique is an intensive 2-semester full-time study-programme. During each of the 2 semesters, students engage in field experiences. This allows them to develop and implement their own teaching interventions, taking into account the individual and socio-cultural resources of the students. Admission Requirements
Admissions To apply for a programme at the University of Luxembourg, candidates must comply with the general eligibility criteria for the chosen programme type and be selected by the study programme based on the quality of their application. Format: Full time programme Specific information for this programme Requirements To be eligible for the programme, students must meet the following requirements: Hold a Luxembourgish high school diploma or a recognized foreign diploma equivalent to the Luxembourgish diploma. Hold a bachelor’s degree from the University of Luxembourg or a bachelor’s degree or academic title registered in registre des titres de formation, section enseignement supérieur (180 ECTS credits) in one of the following fields: Pedagogy, social sciences, or psychology. Selection procedure & criteria Successfully pass and achieve a favorable ranking in the admission examination. Students need to submit an online questionnaire about their motivation to become a teacher.
