Program Overview
The Care Sustainable Innovation at L'\xc3\x89cole de Design Nantes Atlantique is a MDes programme in Arts & Design over 24 months, delivered On-campus. This programme equips graduates with advanced knowledge and practical skills for professional and academic careers in the field.
Students gain a rigorous grounding in both the theoretical foundations and applied dimensions of arts & design. The programme combines coursework, research components, and practical projects that develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and specialist expertise relevant to industry and research needs.
Graduates of the Care Sustainable Innovation programme are well-prepared for careers in academia, industry, government, and the private sector across France and internationally. The programme provides an internationally recognised qualification within the Bologna higher education framework.

Program Curriculum
Course Structure
- Students who did not attend undergraduate\nstudies at L\x92Ãcole de design, be they French\nor international, are required to complete\nan \x93integration semester\x94, designed to assist\nthem in adapting to their new cultural and\nstudy environment.
- All students enrolled in Transcultural Design\nare required to take an orientation seminar followed\nby an internship, preferably in China or India,\ndepending on the chosen program.
- During this semester students learn to: manage\ncomplex design projects; broaden their knowledge\nof the economic, social and cultural aspects of their\nchosen program; create and apply a methodology;\nand prepare their end of study project, on a subject\nof their choice, depending on their chosen field\nof study.
- Project\xa0Continuation and finalization of the end of study project.\nIn parallel, students can participate in collaborative\nprojects with companies and / or institutions.
- Four to six month internship within a company\nin France or abroad, as a junior designer
Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
This program is open to all applicants who either:
- hold a Bachelor\xc2\x92s Degree in design or equivalent, or
- have completed at least three years of undergraduate studies in design or equivalent, equating to at least 180 ECTS credits
You may apply before actually receiving the degree or having completed your undergraduate studies. However, admission will only take effect once the degree is obtained or the undergraduate credits have been validated.
Applicants whose level we assess to be insufficient may be recommended to follow a semester or a full year in our International Class before entering the master\xc2\x92s program.
Language requirements
English
If you are not a native English speaker, we ask that you provide proof of your English proficiency (minimum level of 700 points at the TOEIC test or equivalent for programs taught in English).
French
While not mandatory for the programs taught in English, a certain command of French language is recommended for daily life in France and integration purposes.
English Proficiency: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
