Program Curriculum
Course Structure
- A core sequence of five courses to include Child and Family Development 634, 660 (four units required), 670, 790, and Education 690 (16 units).
- Up to 12 units of 500, 600, and 700-level child and family development courses. (Graduate students who received the Bachelor of Science degree in child development from San Diego State University will complete child and family development 500-level courses not taken as part of their undergraduate program and will select remaining courses from other programs with approval of the graduate adviser).
- Child and Family Development 799A (Plan A).

Academic Requirements
You must provide the following:
- Official transcripts (in sealed envelopes) issued within the last year, from all U.S. colleges and universities attended. Students who previously attended SDSU need only submit transcripts for coursework completed since last attendance. Hard copy transcripts from SDSU are not required.
- GRE scores should be sent directly from Educational Testing Services (ETS) using SDSU\xc2\x92s Institution Code 4682. Please note the university requires that all sections (verbal, quantitative, analytical writing) of the GRE be completed. The GRE is only a requirement for applicants to the M.S. in Child Development, not the EC-SEBRIS Certificate Program.
- TOEFL scores are required of all applicants, regardless of citizenship, whose native language is not English and whose preparatory education was principally in a language other than English. A minimum score of 80 is required. Scores should be sent directly from ETS using SDSU\xc2\x92s Institution Code 4682.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
