Program Overview

The Diploma in the Laws of Procedure is an undergraduate course in one branch of the law, the law of procedure. This undergraduate course provides a comprehensive knowledge of and training in the core legal subjects related to procedural law.This course requires you to acquire a detailed knowledge of all the laws of procedure. All study-units are compulsory and are assessed at the end of the semester.The programme of studies extends over a period of two-years of part-time studies. Though not a diploma leading directly to the pursuit of a specific legal profession, the areas covered equip you with knowledge and skills which may be utilised in other careers such as at the Courts of Justice Department, the Attorney General's Office, in legal firms and public sector entities having a close connection to the Courts of Justice, banks, insurances and companies.

Admission Requirements

General Entry Requirements Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications Notes and any other requirements Applicants admitted as "Adult Learners" (mature applicants) under paragraph (c) of Regulation 6 of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Board that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit. Such applicants shall be required to submit with their application a letter written in English giving their motivation for applying for the Course, together with a copy of their Curriculum Vitaei . Applicants in terms of the 'maturity (adult learners) clause' are required to sit for an English Proficiency Test to be held on 6 September 2023. Successful applicants will then be required to sit for an interview, which will be held during the same month. Once announced, dates cannot be changed. Such applicants shall be exempted from sitting the proficiency test if they are in possession of a pass at SEC level English at Grade 5 or better or equivalent. The closing date for receipt of applications from applicants in terms of the 'maturity (adult learners) clause' (those who will be sitting for the proficiency test and/or interview) is 31 August 2023 at 2pm.
