Program Overview

This professional qualification is designed to authorise the practice of general medicine. It consists of three years’ clinical training and two semesters in biomedical research, clinical research or primary care. It is also possible to stop after the three years of clinical training and obtain a Master’s degree in General Medicine. This English version of the website is purely for your information. Please note that besides knowledge of English at B1 level, this programme requires language skills in French and German at B2 level.

Career opportunities Graduates will be able to practice general medicine in all countries of the European Union. More info Study programme brochure Objectives The speciality training in general medicine aims to: Learn to identify the early stages of the disease and to differentiate between common pathologies and rare diseases that may have a serious or fatal prognosis; to handle situations requiring medical consultation and interdisciplinary management; the basic principles of supporting patients at the end of their lives; to use medical techniques appropriately; the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Identify the individual problems of the patient and deal with the specificities of primary care practice; the optimal medical decision taking into account evidence-based medicine; the physician’s expertise and the patient’s own needs and expectations. Carry out home visits and assess the psychosocial environment and integrate these notions into the handling of the patient. Develop a critical reading of medical articles.
