Academic Requirements
- A bachelors degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences with at least 30 ECTS in Political Science. At least further 12 ECTS in Political Science or in Methodology and Empirical Social Research
- Overall grade equivalent to at least 2.7 (German grading system) in the bachelor\'s degree
- English language skills

- CV in English
- Letter of motivation in English, explaining the reasons for applying for the Double Masters Programme (aprox. 500 words)
- Proof of sufficient language skills in English of at least C1 (CEFR) or equivalent (TOEFL min. ibt 100; IELTS min. 7.0; Cambridge CAE (B) or CPE (C); for students with a German school diploma: end of class 11 (G8) or end of class 12 (G9) with at least 5 points in the German grading system).
Please note that Maastricht University has different requirements for demonstrating proficiency in English which can be accessed here. Students need to fulfill the requirements of both universities in order to be included in the Double Master\'s Programme option. - Bachelors degree certificate; in cases where present Bachelor studies have not been fully completed, application is permitted if the candidate has earned at least 80% of the required credits and will have achieved the remaining results by 30 September at the latest. The specific admission criteria governing the designated course of study (including the overall grade) must already have been fulfilled on the basis of the exam results available at the time of application
- Transcript of records
- Descriptions of all relevant courses taken during the bachelor (e.g. extracts from the course catalogue)
- If applicable, transcript of studies abroad. In case any of the courses completed abroad have been credited towards the bachelor\'s degree of the home university, this written document must contain an official record of the courses taken and the grades received. Please also attach a description of the modules taken abroad
- An essay in English written by the applicant, either specifically for this application or for earlier studies or other occasions. It is preferable, but not absolutely necessary, that the topic is related to European Studies. You can use a copy form earlier studies or another occasion. There are no requirements as to the length of the essay
- A photocopy of a valid passport or EU ID card
- A recent passport photo
All documents must be provided in English or German. Documents in any other language must have an authorised translation into English or German attached. We may need to ask for further documentation at a later stage of the application proces.
