Other diploma\'s: permission can be granted after thorough investigation of the study background of the applicant.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS/ PROOF OF PROFICIENCY IN ENGLISH:
  • A TOEFL-TEST with a minimum score of 90 (internet-based). Test participants should specify the "institution code" 2643 for UGent and 0749 for KULeuven, so that the score can be sent directly to the university.
  • An original \'academic test report form\' (TRF) from IELTS with a minimum overall band score of 7.0.
  • A certificate awarded by the Ghent University Language Centre confirming proficiency in English, CEF-level B2
  • Certificate Practical English 5, Upper-Intermediate Academic English or Preparing for an English test, issued by the Ghent University Language Centre.
  • Cambridge-ESOL: First certificate in English (FCE)
Exemption from the applicable language requirements:Prospective students shall be exempted from the language requirements for English, if :
  • they hold a diploma of secondary education awarded by (an educational institution that is recognised by) the Flemish Community;
  • they hold a higher education diploma awarded by an institution for higher education that is recognised by the Flemish Community;
  • they have already passed an English-language study programme, either in secondary education or at another institution for higher education (i.e. the student needs to have obtained 60 credits);
CREDENTIALS REGARDING PRIOR EDUCATION
For applicants who studied outside Belgium, comparability of the diploma is not always easily established. Therefore, your application for the Master of Science in Geology should contain the following documents:A) Certified copies of transcripts and diplomas (required for all applicants).B) Additional documentation supporting your application *:
  • a complete list of course titles for which you have obtained a credit, indicating the course size (in ECTS-credits) and the result you obtained, preferably according to the ECTS-scale; if a different scale is used, please provide a summary explanation on the meaning of the scores.
  • for the courses you deem most relevant as a preparation for the master provide a short description according to the standard guidelines for an ECTS-study guide.
*Applicants from universities that are in the global top 200 in the most recent Times Higher Education or QS rankings are exempted from providing this additional documentation.The Admissions Board will only consider the applications that are complete according to these guidelines.
