Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
The applicant must meet the School of Graduate Studies\xc2\x92 current minimum general admission requirements as published in the graduate catalog.
- For admission to the geology M.A. program, applicants must hold a bachelor\xc2\x92s degree in geology from an accredited college or university or otherwise demonstrate sufficient coursework, training, or experience in geoscience.
- For \xc2\x93approved\xc2\x94 status, students must have completed a 5-6 credit hour geology field course, along with satisfactory achievement in supporting science and mathematics, as determined by the school\xc2\x92s graduate admissions committee.
- For all graduate programs in the Harold Hamm School of Geology and Geological Engineering, a cumulative 3.0 or higher grade point average is required.
- Submission of a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test score is strongly recommended if you do not have a degree in geology. Applicants are encouraged to submit their GRE score to support their application.
- Satisfy the School of Graduate Studies\xc2\x92 English Language Proficiency requirements as published in the graduate catalog.
