Academic Requirements
Admission Requirements:
Each applicant must hold a bachelors degree from an accredited institution and provide a transcript from each institution attended. Students must be proficient in college algebra and the use of word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software. Prior coursework in anatomy & physiology, organic chemistry and biochemistry is highly recommended. Students must have high-speed internet access (cable or DSL) for web-based courses.
Students who are currently enrolled in the Graduate School and who wish to pursue the certificate program must inform the Graduate School and the certificate coordinator of their intention to apply for admission to the certificate program before eight of the required credits are completed. Students enrolled in the M.S. in Food Science and Human Nutrition or in the Ph.D. program in Food and Nutrition Sciences may not concurrently enroll in the certificate program.
A maximum of 40% (6 credits) of the credit hours towards the certificate may be accepted as transfer credit.
A maximum of one course in which a grade of C was earned may be applied towards the requirements for the certificate. Pass/fail grades are not permitted. Acceptance of a course towards a certificate does not guarantee acceptance of the same course towards a graduate degree.
Application for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Food and Nutrition is through submittal of an application for admission to this specific certificate program through the graduate school and payment of the required, non-refundable, application fee ($35).
