Prerequisites for admission to the International Tourism Management Master Program:
1) Admission to the Master Program is possible for those who have acquired their Bachelor Degree in ITM at the West Coast University of Applied Sciences with an overall average grade of 2,5 or better or have either acquired a diploma or bachelor degree in a subject related to tourism (Economy, Ecology, Spatial Sciences, History, Communication or Media Studies, Psy-chology, Sociology, Methodology/Statistics, Cultural Studies) at a University, University of Applied Sciences or something comparable within the jurisdiction of the Hochschulrahmengesetz with an overall average grade of 2,5 or better. Applicants who dont have a tourism study background have to prove at least 20 credits in tourism related subjects or 10 credits in tourism and 10 credits in economics/business. Tourism related subjects are such subjects represented in the Bachelor program International Tourism Management. ECTS gained through intern-ships will be excluded. Applicants who dont have a tourism or business related educational background have to pass a special course on tourism respectively business in the first semester. In this case the admission will take place with reservation.
2) Admission on trial is possible for students not holding a degree named in section one but having at least three years work experience within the field of tourism. Personnel or budget responsibility is required. Applicants have to prove their work experience by employers references.
Concerning the language certificate there is an exception to the requirement of showing an official language certificate under condition that your complete Bachelor Study program was taught in English. In that case you need to hand in a document issued by a professor of your Bachelor study program which confirms:
- that the complete program was taught in English and
- that your English language skills are equivalent to B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The certificate must clearly name the level of C1, the institute where the qualification has been made, as well as a contact name with number or e-mail-address. This document needs to be handed in as a hard copy in addition to your Master Application, we also suggest that you add this information to your CV. This is the only exception possible.
