Program Overview

The M.A. programme aims at providing advanced instruction in Diplomatic History, International Relations, International Economics, International Law and Diplomacy. The programme provides you with both theoretical perspectives and practical work in the diplomatic field, concentrating mainly on the 20th century diplomatic history and contemporary international affairs. You will be familiarized with the major diplomatic and military events including World War I, World War II, the Cold War and the post-Cold War period. These are all examined from both a general international and a Mediterranean perspective. FRE1100 French Language for Diplomats 4 ECTS GRM0011 Introduction to German 4 ECTS Summer Semester Compulsory Units (All students must register for this/these unit/s) DST5005 Dissertation 30 ECTS Requirement for the award of the Master of Arts in Diplomatic Studies: 90 ECTS. This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Master in Diplomacy or Master of Arts in Diplomatic Studies – M.A. (Dip. St.) - under the auspices of the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies.

Applicants must be in possession of: Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications A Bachelor degree obtained with at least Second Class (Honours) or Category II from the University of Malta or a degree recognized by Senate as equivalent in any of the following fields: International Relations, Law, History, Economics, Political Science, European Studies and Diplomacy, or any other related disciplines as approved by the University Admissions Board on the recommendation of the Board: provided that applicants with a Bachelor degree obtained with at least Category II shall be required to follow a preparatory programme.
