Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

The applicant eligible for admission into the programme shall fulfil all the following conditions:

  • Be in possession of an MB;ChB degree from the University of Nairobi, or its equivalent from other universities recognised by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Possess evidence of registration or eligibility for licensing by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board for purposes of training.
  • Have completed at least one year of internship in a medical institution recognised by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and been registered as a Medical Officer or equivalent body in the country of origin for foreign students.
  • Have at least one year of clinical experience after internship as a medical officer or equivalent in a hospital or an institution recognised by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board, or equivalent body in the country of origin for foreign students.
  • Provide aCertificate of good conduct issued by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board or equivalent body.
  • Provide letters of support from two (2) referees who must be senior medical practitioners, researchers or senior lecturers in a recognized medical school.
  • Possess a certificate of good conduct from the Medical and Practitioners Board or equivalent authority from the county of origin.
  • Pass a written and oral entry examination based on key areas in the undergraduate training on paediatrics and child health. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a clear interest in children.
  • Applicants from foreign countries who qualify for admission andwho for reasons acceptable to the recruitment committeeare unable to present themselvesin-person for the interviews, may be exempted from the requirementsof written and oral entry examination.
  • Be fluent in English, the language of instruction. If the language of instruction during the applicant’s undergraduate training was not English, he/she must present a certificate of proficiency in English
  • Obtain a valid professional indemnity cover during the period of training.
