Program Structure
The MS in Mathematics at Loyola is a 30-credit hour program, ordinarily completed in three semesters of full-time study . It is structured as a mix of required and elective courses, together with a professional development seminar and a practicum project. The master's degree in mathematics can also be pursued part-time . Most courses are taught in-person during the day on Loyola's Lake Shore Campus.

- One year of Calculus equivalent to MATH 161 and MATH 162
- Multivariable Calculus equivalent to MATH 263
- Ordinary Differential Equations equivalent to MATH 264
- Statistics equivalent to STAT 203
- Linear Algebra equivalent to MATH 212
- Structured Programming equivalent to MATH 215 or COMP 170
It is also recommended that applicants have completed two further mathematical courses centered on proof, such as: Introduction to Proof, equivalent to MATH 201; Abstract Algebra, equivalent to MATH 313; Real Analysis, equivalent to MATH 351.

This program has an Accelerated Master's Pathway (AMP) for current Loyola undergraduates . Through the AMP, you can lower the cost of a master's degree by earning graduate credits at undergraduate tuition rates (before your undergraduate degree is conferred). Once you graduate with your bachelor’s degree, you will also be eligible for the Returning Rambler Scholarship , offering 25% off graduate tuition.
