Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.5

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Students wishing to apply for admission to the graduate program should go the university\xc2\x92s web\nsite at \xc2\x93ucmo.edu/graduate\xc2\x94 and click on the link to apply for admission. Students must also\nprovide transcripts of all undergraduate work, for all applicants for a graduate degree must have\ncompleted a bachelor\xc2\x92s degree in music OR completed the requirements for a BA degree in\nmusic at UCM. Payment of an application fee is also required (see the current catalogue).\nThese materials are then sent to the Department of Music for evaluation. If accepted, the student\nwill be notified and may then begin planning a program with a graduate coordinator. To be\naccepted for graduate study in music, the student must have:\xc2\xa0
  • An undergraduate grade-point of 2.50 in music\xc2\xa0
  • Completed an undergraduate degree in music or completed the requirements for a BA\ndegree in music (see the undergraduate catalogue)
  • Completed prerequisites for Central graduate courses\xc2\xa0
