Academic Requirements

Official copies of academic records detailing course work completed in secondary schools, colleges, universities or professional institutions

  • It is the student\'s responsibility to request academic records.
  • Each record must bear the original stamp/seal and signature of a government or school official (e.g., registrar or dean). Notarized copies will not be accepted.
  • Academic records should list the subjects you studied by year, the number of weekly lecture and laboratory hours in each attempt at every subject, grades, marks, or percentages earned in year-end examinations, and copies of diplomas, titles, degrees, or certificates. Consolidated mark sheets are not accepted.
  • Academic records not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation.
  • All records must be mailed to USA\'s Office of International Admissions and Student Services from each institution you have attended.
  • Whenever possible, academic records must be sent directly from issuing institution.
  • If you have a U.S. bachelor\'s degree, or its equivalent, secondary school records are not required.

English Proficiency Requirement (must submit official scores)

  • Minimum TOEFL score of 71 OR
  • Minimum IELTS score of 6
  • Please note that some programs may require higher scores to prove English proficiency.
  • Applicants who hold a bachelor\'s degree from an accredited U.S. institution are not required to submit TOEFL results.

Official Tests

  • Official test scores must be sent to the University.
  • The GMAT is needed for the Mitchell College of Business
  • The GRE is needed for all other colleges (i.e. School of Computing, College of Engineering, etc.)

Letters of Recommendation

  • Three original letters of recommendation written by persons familiar with the applicant\'s academic qualifications and ability to undertake the proposed course of study are required.

Statement of Purpose

  • A two- to three-page essay written by the applicant. This essay should introduce the applicant as a scholar to the graduate committee.
  • Often, the essays contain information about the applicant\xc2\x92s educational and career goals.

A notarized financial affidavit and a certified bank statement for at least $26,852 USD per academic year (based on nine months)

For international students (F-1) applying as transfer students from institutions within the United States

International students interested in the Doctorate of Medicine (MD) program must have permanent resident status in the United States.
