Program Curriculum
Course Structure
- The full program of study for the Master of Education with an emphasis in secondary education is offered only at the Oxford campus. There are some online courses and a number of the courses needed are taught at the regional campuses. Typically a candidate can complete at least half of the needed hours either on-line or at the regional campuses.
- Candidates may return to their respective schools and receive the pay increase for the AA license if Option I is chosen, or they may pursue a position at the community college level.

You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Applicants to the program must meet these requirements:
- 3.0 GPA on last 60 hours of undergraduate work
- Praxis II Content Scores (6 points higher than MDE Licensure requirement)
- Two (2) Graduate Reference Forms
- Hold or eligible to hold an A educator licensure in the content area (English, mathematics, science (biology, chemistry, physics), social studies)
