After the course, many students continue their studies and register for a PhD. However, the course is also of value to students wishing to progress in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or regenerative medicine sectors, or go into specialist clinical training. It is also ideal for MBChB intercalating students who wish to undertake directly channelled research training in the tissue engineering/regenerative medicine field.

Program Curriculum
Course overview
Learn how to research strategies to repair, replace and ultimately regenerate various tissues and organs to solve major clinical problems. Gain a comprehensive insight into topical issues such as stem cells, design and characterisation of biomaterials and nanomaterials (including graphene), biofabrication (including 3D bioprinting), cell and gene therapies, commercialisation and clinical translation of regenerative therapies. Prepare for PhD study, specialist clinical training or a career in related industries, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology and regenerative medicine sectors.

Admission Requirements
Entry requirements
We require an honours degree (minimum Upper Second) or overseas equivalent in: biological sciences medical sciences biomedical materials dentistry veterinary medicine pharmacology This course is also available for intercalating medical students, both from The University of Manchester and other UK universities. For intercalating MBChB students, we require satisfactory achievement in Years 1 to 4. You can fail, but you must pass the resit and progress through the course. There should be no failure in the year before intercalation.
English language
International students must demonstrate English proficiency through a secure and approved testing system. We ask for English language proof if you are from non-majority English speaking countries (a list of majority English speaking countries, as defined by the UK Home Office, can be found at GOV.UK ). Specifically, we require a minimum of: IELTS: minimum 6.5 overall with 6.5 or above in each component TOEFL: 90 internet-based with 22 or above in each component See further information about requirements for your country. We may also accept evidence of a confirmed place on a University Pre-sessional English language course, if your current IELTS scores are: Minimum 6.0 overall (with 6.0 in each component) plus enrolment and attendance on the 6-week pre-sessional course (PS6). Minimumâ¯6.0 overall (with 5.5 in each component) plus enrolment and attendance on the 10-week pre-sessional course (PS10). Please note, we must approve this before you apply for the English course.
English language test validity
Some English Language test results are only valid for two years. Your English Language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

For entry in the academic year beginning September 2026, the tuition fees are as follows: MSc (full-time) UK students (per annum): £17,300 International, including EU, students (per annum): £38,900
The fees quoted above are fully inclusive of tuition, administration and computational costs. Fees for entry are subject to yearly review. The University reserves the right to increase your tuition fee by up to 7% each year for courses lasting more than one year, including to reflect rising costs associated with delivering our educational and wider student experience. Postgraduate fees information . Always contact the admissions team if you are unsure which fee applies to your qualification award and method of attendance. International student CAS deposit Self-funded international applicants are required to pay a deposit of £2500 towards their tuition fees before a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) is issued. All students should normally be able to complete their programme of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that programme. Any unavoidable additional compulsory costs totalling more than 1% of the annual home undergraduate fee per annum, regardless of whether the programme in question is undergraduate or postgraduate taught, will be made clear to you at the point of application.
