Academic Requirements

The applicant must submit the following documents:
  • Application Fee - The application fee of $75 is payable through the online application by credit card or e-check (drawn on a US bank).
  • OR Fee Waivers - The application fee is waived for: current Tufts undergraduate and graduate students; students in Tufts certificate programs applying to a degree program; Project 1000 applicants; AmeriCorps and Peace Corps volunteers; City Year and Teach For America Corp members; GEM fellows; and IRT, Leadership Alliance, and McNair Scholars. Gordon Institute M.S.E.M. applicants who attend an information session will be granted a fee waiver.
  • Academic Records - Applicants will be required to upload a copy of transcripts received from each college or university attended where credit was earned toward an undergraduate, graduate or professional degree.
  • Letters of Recommendation - Most programs will require three letters of recommendation. Current Tufts students, Tufts certificate students applying for a degree program and applicants to the engineering management program are only required to submit two letters.
  • Personal Statement - You are required to upload a personal statement describing your reasons for wanting to pursue graduate study at Tufts. Please limit your personal statement to a maximum of five pages.
  • Résumé/Curriculum Vitae - Your current résumé or CV including dates of your educational history, employment, academic honors, scholarships, publications and other activities should be uploaded as part of your completed application.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) - The majority of our degree programs will require the GRE. To ensure timely score reporting, we suggest that you take the GRE at least one month prior to the application deadline for your program.
  • Evidence of English Proficiency for Non-Native Speakers of English
  • Additional Requirements - Students interested in the combined degree must submit and complete two separate application packets for the UEP program and the Friedman School. Transcripts, letters of reference and GRE scores should be sent by the applicant to both programs. A student already in one program who decides to pursue the combined degree must apply to the second program by the beginning of the third full-time semester of study.
