About This Scholarship
The Claude Leon Foundation supports postdoctoral research in South Africa by scientists either from South Africa or coming to South Africa to work. Postdoctoral fellowships of R300,000 (about $17,000) per year are awarded for one to two years. The foundation's goal is to improve the quality of university research in South Africa and strengthen South Africa's scientific research capacity. Awards cover all natural science disciplines including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. South African universities act as host institutions for the fellows.
